Description: Fozia’s House marks our pioneering venture into low-cost housing in the urban slums of Karachi. The project aimed to create a cost-effective and efficient home for Fozia, her husband, and their four children, while also considering communal spaces on the ground floor and intelligent infrastructure systems. Navigating the contextual challenges and financial constraints, we not only designed the house but also raised funds through Zakat (compulsory Islamic almsgiving) and managed the project through to completion. The process was participatory, with a focus on developing context-sensitive design strategies. The insights gained from this project have informed and enriched our approach to similar initiatives moving forward.
