Description: Anwar’s House is a double-story residence in an urban slum of Karachi, designed for Anwar and his family of eight children. Constructed using RCC, the house is planned for incremental vertical growth, allowing Anwar to expand as he secures funds to accommodate his large family. A standout feature is the large screen wall facing the road, which ensures privacy while allowing light and breeze to flow through the house. The screen wall blends into the humble immediate context, while offering great spatial experience. All materials, including the screen, are locally sourced, salvaged, or reused, adding a unique dimension of sustainability to the project. This robust home, funded entirely by Zakat from a single donor, provides Anwar with much-needed financial and personal stability in a previously challenging situation.
