Description: The Pop-Up Meditation space was a temporary installation designed for Bekhudi, a meditation and transformation platform, for a wellness festival at a local school. The challenge was to transform a regular classroom into a serene meditation space, despite the noisy, bustling festival environment. Moreover, the project needed to be economical and easy to execute while creating a deeply immersive experience. The design response was to create a promenade, guiding users through a sequence of movement that gradually disconnected them from the outside world. The space inside was curated with hanging cloth elements in circular geometry, disconnecting ones’ assumption of finding a rectangular opaque room. The cloth symbolized scrolls and veils, reflecting the meditative journey of uncovering layers of consciousness. We also introduced especially commissioned calligraphic artwork that served as gentle reminders for visitors. The space featured floor cushions for seating, with a guided meditation soundscape playing in the background. The installation was a resounding success, offering a peaceful retreat within the festival.
